Tom Moir, Trainer / Instructor

Tom Moir joined the Army in 1996. After a spell as a vehicle mechanic he transferred to be a dog trainer in the Royal Army Veterinary Corps (RAVC).

He spent 3 years at the Defence Animal Centre where he trained Patrol Dogs (arm true and suit) and Specialist Dogs.

Tom is a versatile instructor having delivered courses in the Army for Patrol Dog Handlers and Vehicle Search Dog Handlers training personnel from across the three services, MOD Police and foreign nationals.

He was then posted to 102 Sqn, 1st MWD Regt in Germany as a Class 1 Dog Trainer and Section Commander. He ultimately became a Troop Sergeant.

He has worked with Military Patrol Dogs, Vehicle Search Dogs, Multi Purpose Drug Dogs, and High Assurance Search Dogs and is now qualified and accredited as an Explosive Detection Dog Handler in the private security industry.

Tom has been involved in different projects ranging from designing the dog training facility in Afghanistan to trialling and developing new capabilities of dogs.

Tom has been on operational tours to Northern Ireland, the Balkans, Iraq and Afghanistan.

After leaving the Army in 2011 Tom joined the ranks at Top Dog Security and uses his extensive experience to train dogs and personnel.
